At the heart of my teaching is Yoga Therapeutics. This highly specialized approach is beneficial for women navigating joint replacements, stiffness, reduced flexibility, or the exhaustion that comes from carrying too much stress.
Through targeted, science-based movements, you’ll gently release tension, restore mobility, and build lasting stability—while cultivating a deeper awareness of your subtle body. All session formats are joint-conscious, beginner-accessible, and intentionally paced, so you can safely explore what feels good and possible in your body. This isn’t yoga that asks you to push, perform, or keep up. It’s yoga that listens.
What sets me apart is that I don’t just teach these principles—I’ve live them. With bilateral knee replacements and a highly sensitive nervous system of my own, I know firsthand what it’s like to feel limited, hesitant, or disconnected from your body. That lived experience—combined with over 1,600 hours of advanced training in therapeutics, anatomy, physiology, neurobiology, fascia science, and cadaver study—gives you the rare opportunity to learn from someone who both understands your challenges and has the expertise to help you move through them.

Self-Massage & Myofascial Release

Licensed Massage Therapist Training
Your fascia - the connective tissue surrounding muscles, joints, and organs - can become stiff or restricted over time. Through gentle and nuanced guided self-massage, myofascial release techniques, yoga breathing and relaxation cues, we improve mobility, circulation, lymphatic flow and comfort in local tissues.
Techniques address tension, soreness, healing areas and trigger points while revving up your body awareness and ability to relax and better manage discomfort and pain. Tools are thoughtfully placed against the body to initiate connection to muscle and fascia before adding a technique for massage and release, and include: massage therapy balls, a partially deflated therapy ball, a yoga block, a foam roller, specifically shaped yoga blanket, and the hands.
These practices complement Yoga Therapeutics, are included as embodiment techniques in Meditation and Restorative Yoga, and can be experienced in both online group classes and digital therapeutic coaching.

Meditation Made Easy & Yoga Nidra

Meditation helps calm the mind, regulate the nervous system, and transform how you relate to stress. Yoga Nidra is a deeply restorative, guided meditation often called "yogic sleep". Both practices are accessible to everyone, even if you've never meditated before.
It is easy to get wrapped up in the stress storms of daily life, or nervous system sensitivities linked to a medical diagnosis, and become stuck in a rut. Meditation helps teach us that the waves and storms are inevitable but not indefinite, and there is a wealth of calmness within us that we can activate at any minute by simply using a meditative tool for focus, like our breath.
You'll discover how stillness can support both your physical and emotional well-being, and learn simple techniques to help you nourish a routine daily practice.
Meditation and Yoga Nidra are also presented through the lens of Restorative Yoga.

Digital Therapeutic Coaching Program
Whether it's tight hips, stiff shoulders or knees, or a sore lower back, using my expertise as a Yoga Medicine® Therapeutic Specialist, I address the areas where women 50+ most often feel restricted.
You'll learn fundamental therapeutic practices that will familiarize and train you with the building blocks of good function around the hips and legs, neck and shoulders, and middle and low back including: awareness, range of motion, mobility, balance, stability, strength, ease and nervous system regulation.
You'll benefit from high quality follow-along videos taught by a Yoga Medicine® Therapeutic Specialist, that I curate and design into specific daily sequences and techniques to relieve discomfort, and improve your daily movement - so you can bend, reach, twist and walk with more ease. This expertly produced digital programming is then complemented by ongoing coaching from me (Joy) through weekly encouraging video check-ins and feedback on your progress, built in accountability, PLUS a program-specific weekly Zoom class with Joy, all unfolding over a specified time period.

Virtual Private 1-1 Coaching blends all approaches in a fully personalized plan, designed specifically for your body, needs and goals based on my expertise as a Yoga Medicine® Therapeutic Specialist, Master Meditation Teacher & Licensed Massage Therapist. This is a unique opportunity to be taught and coached by someone who knows exactly how you feel.
Together, we'll address your movement limitations, stress patterns, and recovery needs so you can feel more capable, confident, and comfortable in your own body. This program includes fundamental therapeutic practices that will familiarize and train you with the building blocks of good function around the hips and legs, neck and shoulders, and middle and low back including: awareness, range of motion, mobility, balance, stability, strength, ease and nervous system regulation. Beginning with a therapeutic evaluation and review of your medical history, and based on it's findings, I design a customized therapeutic plan, including follow-along videos delivered digitally on a calendar schedule helping you build familiarity, routine and confidence.
This program includes highly-effective, expert-led, virtual 1-1 coaching sessions with Joy, regular feedback and video check-ins, accountability, and inclusion in a weekly online group class of your choice, all unfolding over a specified time period.
